Superstorm Sandy
Hurricane Sandy is scary. I live in Houston, hurricane zone, but I wasn't really affected during Ike. I have a sister in Philadelphia. I know, you're probably hearing about New York and Jersey, but it's still scary. I hope any and all of my readers in the northeast are alright! I just wanted to tell y'all to keep safe. xoxo Ife

My Baking Fail
A couple of months back, I decided to move the baking soda to an airtight container
similar to the one the flour
was in. Today I decided to bake this cake recipe, because it was simple and I hadn't baked anything in a while. The recipe called for flour and I grabbed one of those airtight containers. I added all the ingredients and poured the batter into the cupcake pan
I tasted a bit of the batter and it tasted kind of bitter. I assumed it was nothing and popped it in the oven. Twenty minutes later my pan and oven look like this:
Poop. I added baking soda, not flour to the batter. And I get to clean it up. This is such a fail. Sigh. On the bright side, now I have to clean the oven, a task I've been putting off forever! xoxo Ife
P.S. What baking fails have you had? Tell me via email or comment!
EDIT: Baking soda is a great cleaning agent, and now the stainless steel shows through my otherwise burnt(?) cupcake pan

I'm in love with..
Change.org . I know I say this alot, but I really mean it. Change.org allows you to sign petitions that, well, change the world(!) If you start a petition you have to get a certain amount of signers. Much like fundraising sites like Indiegogo and such, yes? I love Change.org's UI and design. Change.org is a really cool site and I just wanted to blog about it.

I decided to jump on the Pinterest bandwagon. And guess what? I am loving it. I used to have all sorts of fanciful ideas for crafts but never really completed them. Now, with Pinterest it all feels so do-able.
I am going to give my room a make-over! I am starting with my dresser. I am going to buy a cheap plain dresser:

And transform it with chalkboard paint that I might tint purple to match my room decor:
Add cool drawer pulls:
.. And yeah. That's all I've got so far. But I will definitely keep y'all up to date on my progress. If you are going to make-over your room, and need some dresser inspiration, check out this website: http://www.casasugar.com/How-Transform-Dresser-17903149

Why I love Photoshop
Hello world! The school year is fast approaching, and I was looking for cool binder covers. Thanks to the vastness of the world wide web, I was able to find some great inspiration and key pieces for awesome binder covers for my core classes. I figured you guys might be looking for some binder covers as well, so I says to myself, I says, "I should post the binder covers that I made with the wonderful Photoshop CS6." So here they are, along with links to great websites. I will provide tutorials later.

Jealous? My binders are going to be really cool! These inserts were really easy to make though. As I said earlier, I will be providing tutorials in later posts. I hope you guys like them!

From a Distance Picture Challenge
The picture challenge is "from a distance."
It's a picture of me. Planking. I was inspired by the American Idol auditions where a girl sang while her sister planked. That got me wondering what the purpose of planking was. "Planking is an activity consisting of lying face-down in an unusual or incongruous location." Et c. After reading, I feel pretty lame.
Hey guys! Don't leave just because I haven't posted in two whole days. Man this is a long blog title. Well... bye.
Great Wraps. My sister wanted me to blog about how when he messed up my refill(soda) he didn't want to change it. He said, "I can't change every time." My sister said that we weren't coming back. That's really disappointing because they had some Great Wraps (pun intended). My picture for Saturday is "from a distance." I don't have any pictures for that right now. And for today "sunset". I don't have pictures for that right now. Sorry. And for the blog challenge. I'm doing my dream wedding. Okay so I'd want a fairy-tale wedding. Like a Cinderella dress.
Like this.
Or this.
And the colors would be baby blue and maybe lavender. I would design my own invitations of course. (I'm artsy like that.) My maid-of-honors would be my sisters. Unless maid-of-honors can't be married. I dunno. Anyway I would have maybe 4 bridesmaids. And pretty much everything about the wedding would be traditional. Except the music and the reception. I would have some sort of elaborate cake with funky colors. And play I Want To Hold Your Hand by the Beatles. OK, that's enough of that. I've watched too much TLC. I know I should probably do two other blog challenges, but I think I have blogged enough. See you tomorrow... if you are lucky :). Anyway, I am off to church.

Sorry for not posting yesterday
The challenge for today is a picture of an animal I'd love to keep as a pet.
Bacon's pretty darned awesome, too. Turkey bacon just isn't the same. The same way waffles are way better than pancakes, even though they are made from the same stuff. I think it's the texture. Anyway.... I don't really have anything to blog about. I'm out of YouTube videos at the moment. Sorry. I got my friends to make blogs! Check 'em out: astoldbyabigaild.blogspot.com and elysethegirl.blogspot.com. They aren't as good as mine though. Just kidding.

A Song to Match my Mood
My friend is behind me talking about how she has nothing to do and reading this over my shoulder. Good, she's gone now. I'm gonna talk about her. Just kidding.
Random YouTube video of the day:
Have you guys heard about the potential SOPA and PIPA act? It's complicated so if you want to look into it, I suggest searching something on Wikipedia, and waiting a bit for the black-out thing. Talk to your representatives! Please. Don't want to be pushy, you know. As you can see my favorite color is purple. Yup. It's awesome. I love grapes. My friend (not the one I was talking about earlier) took most of my grapes at lunch :(. Anyway, remember to talk to your reps., otherwise, the internet may never be the same! Remember, the fate of the internet lies in YOUR hands. No pressure. :)
Bye, dudes and betties/dudettes (I know, I'm all surfer-y)

School After a 3-Day Weekend :(
Today was pretty good. No drama or anything. I probably won't be posting very much this week. Sorry if I got your hopes up and crushed them down. I know you guys love my posting :). So today's "challenge" is my idea of a perfect first date.Well, I'm a simple gal: going to the movies, maybe pizza later. Movies are perfect, because you can talk (not really, but you know) or not if it's awkward or you don't feel comfortable. Or something really romantic like a trip to the beach, picnic, starlit walk on the shore. That kind of thing. Cliche, I know. But the beach is awesome! Except for all the sand. The benefits outweigh the costs, so it's totally worth it. Do you guys use new lingo? Well I don't really know if it's new, but words like "fabu", "totes", "oh my friggy friggy gosh" like Greggy from Cake Boss: Next Great Baker, season one. I think he was an.... interesting contestant. But Buddy was so mean to them! And I hated how he came in before the time was up. Anyway, I feel like I am droning on and on about something you don't really care about. The photo challenge was to take a picture of the shadow of anything. I tried to make a shadow-dog, but it didn't turn out so well. What it is is open for interpretation.
Random Youtube Video for Today: the Duck Song
Terrible animations, I know, but it's so cute.
Comment. Tell your friends about it. Make friends if you don't have any so you can tell them about. Take a milk bath like Cleopatra. Subscribe. Follow. Share on Facebook. Make a Facebook or Twitter account if you don't have one so you can share it. Stuff cheese up your nose. (I underlined and bolded that because it is really really really important to me. Make this little(not really) girl's dreams come true.) BYE!

My Awesome Band-Aid
I hurt myself picking up a volleyball. It was behind a pokey plant. So then I was worried the plant carried some sort of disease. I had to wash it with soap and apply alcohol. Rubbing alcohol that is. And man did it burn! This is why I hate rubbing alcohol. But on the bright side, I got to put on this Band-Aid. Not that it was worth it. That would make me seem like a masochist. Aren't cheetahs awesome? I like pandas, monkeys and zebras, too. Especially pandas. Oh today I baked banana nut bread. From the scratch, as my sister said. I love making fun of her on that. Anyway, 'bye. I'm going to sleep soon, so I can be well-rested for tomorrow.
EDIT: My arms are not fat, Busie! I was folding them back so the viewers could see the Band-Aid. Gosh.
A Glorious Eight Views... And ZERO Comments.
Thanks for the support, guys. Not really. Whatever. I blog for the joy of blogging. Not for publicity. Although that would be fun, too. Anyway, I came to post my photo challenge. I decided to do a video. Not of me. Just my voice. I don't want a stalker, you know? Because I'm really that interesting. OK sorry for my ADD moment. If you stick around you'll probably get a lot of those. Hey isn't it weird that in Houston, it's like spring or summer most of the time? We didn't even get any snow! Lame, right? Okay I should probably stop talking about how lame so many things are so you people of Earth don't think I'm prudish. Oh I just looked up what prudish means. Not the right word. Perhaps... cynical? No. If I think of something, I'll edit this, I guess. I really want to get this post up. Hehe that made me think of one of my favorite past-times: prankcalls :). Recently I switched over to prank emails so I don't use up minutes. It's really fun. Anyway here's the video:
Enjoy.... seeing my neighborhood. Oh, by the way, the challenge was take a picture of the outdoors.
MLK Day
As you probably know, today is Martin Luther King Jr. Day. I think it is his birthday or something like that. Anyway, today is probably going to be a blah-fest since I have school off. Hey, at least I have my awesome sister! So, another lame challenge, so I am going to pick one I can blog more about. Let's see... I'll do 15 facts about me.
1)I'm a huge procrastinator
2)I hate when text over uses exclamation marks
3)I use parentheses a lot
4)My room is painted purple
5)I'm afraid of the dark, bugs, and heights. And I'm claustrophobic.
6)That last face probably made me sound like a wimp, so here's a more "tough" fact: hold on, here it comes: never mind, I guess I'm a softie
7)I have a huge sweet tooth
8)I really am a softie because I feel guilty so easily
9)I snore. Loudly. It's really embarrassing, so I try not to fall asleep in class.
10)I am a huge techie(ironically the monitor I blog from is a dinosaur; more than a foot deep)
11)I'm having trouble coming up with 15 facts about me
12)Yesterday I was rooting for the Ravens because, although I live in Texas, I was born in Maryland and I started watching after halftime, and the Ravens were winning
13)I usually go for the underdogs, but yesterday, you know, I had to be loyal
14)I love Google products. I have an Android phone, use Google Chrome, hate searching on Bing and Yahoo, use Gmail, and really want a ChromeBook.
15)I like strange YouTube videos.
16)I know, too many facts. This is my last one. I love learning and sharing useless factoids.
The random YouTube video of today.
If you have more time. And enjoy awkward humor.
Useless Factoid(s) of The Day That You May or May Not Have Known
- "Blog" is short for weblog.
- Banana "trees" are not really trees. They are the world's largest herb.
- The word "herb" can be pronounced erb or herb. With or without the "h". I say it without, because it sounds cooler.
I'll post the photo challenge later, because I don't feel like going out right now. Oh and that's a hint!
TTYL, as you young people say. Although I am one of you. Good day, good sirs and madams, as would be said in medieval times. Although they didn't have computers or the World Wide Web. We'll just ignore that fact though (cheeky smile)

Okay, this is my last post of the day! I promise (kinda)
I hope you all out there are saying "Aww! I want Ife to post some more." If not, that's cool. So I found a cool(ish) photo challenge. So I guess each post of the day will include one photo, one challenge that will probably be lame, something random, a video from YouTube, and one crazy chica(me!). So the photo challenge is.... drum roll, please... my name. I know. Maybe it's a pattern with these challenges, that the first day is like the worst. I dunno. Bye! See you tomorrow... definitely. (I was about to say maybe but then I remembered that it's MLK day, so I won't really have anything much better to do)
Another Post For Today
P.S. All credit for this video becoming famous should be given to me. Not really, but some.
30 Day blog challenge day 1 "My Favorite Song"
Since the topic is lame (no challenge at all), I'm gonna try to make it more interesting. So.. here goes.
My favorite song is Amazing by Aerosmith. I also love Hole in My Soul, also by Aerosmith and Beat It by Michael Jackson. So as you can see I don't really like pop music. Over the summer my sister introduced me to Aerosmith. Now I can't stop listening. Unfortunately, I only started listening to Michael Jackson after he died. It sucks! Anyway... sorry that this challenge was so lame. Hopefully it'll be better tomorrow. Bye!
